About the Project
The R44 project was mainly a reseal contract with two major widenings to be built – the Kromme Rhee and Muldersvlei intersections. The seal was a Triple seal with SR1 (rubber technology) used as a tack coat. Major intersections were asphalt-overlaid using AR1 Asphalt, with more than 10 000 tons used. The whole road also got a “facelift” with all-new road signs. Some concrete-lined drains were built to address storm water runoff.
