Social Responsibility

Umzali Civils contributes to various social responsibility projects each year which include:

  • Training of unemployed persons.
  • Assistance with constructing fields / building projects.
  • Financial assistance to previously disadvantaged persons.
  • Local community projects.

Sponsor of economically disadvantaged Athletic Club.

Contribution to fund for the fight against AIDS.

Sponsor of Airflight running shoes, etc.
Represented South Africa at an athletics meeting in France.

Skills training and general business skills given to over 40 people.

Paid registration of Association Not For Gain, Section 21 Company. Promotes job creation in Athlone District in Cape Town.

Sponsorship of deaf cricket player to represent South Africa in overseas tournament.

Sponsor of sports bags for the under 15 team.

Purchase of new safety equipment.

Levelling of playground using company’s equipment.

Skills training in civil and general business skills given to over 60 people.

Payment of league costs and other expenses. Club draws people from impoverished backgrounds.

Building of parking and play area together with Murray & Roberts Construction

Ongoing employment and skills development of people within Company.
Employment of students and sponsorship for studies.

Sponsor of function to co-ordinate stakeholders and development of the community.

Sponsorship of rugby balls and jerseys. The area has very high unemployment levels.
Sponsorship of cricket team transport subsidy for 2004.

Donation for promotion of boxing tournament and promotion of boxing in Khayelitsha.

Donation to Security Fund to improve the security of people in the Western Cape.
